Are you getting your account set up for the very first time? Did you just bring on a new provider who offers different services than you do? Or do you need to make some adjustments to your existing service list? We make it easy for you to add or edit services!
Jump to a section in this article:
Add a service
From Settings on the full site, choose the Services option
Select "Add New" at the top right of the page
Add the name, description, whether it's hidden or not, duration, price, and cleanup time. If it's hidden, it will be available for scheduling only on the business side!
There is also the option to mark an "outcall" service, which means you travel to your client for the service (this will require them to enter their address)
Hit "Save" or "Save and Add Another" to add more services!
Once you create your new service, don't forget to assign it to the provider or providers that offer that particular service! Keep in mind you can customize the service to have a "Starts At" price—if you happen to have a minimum or variable price for your services. You can even customize the price, duration or cleanup time per provider as well!
💡 Pro tip: Specify a cleanup time for services if you'd like a cushion or buffer between appointments to clean up or prep. The cleanup time is added to the total duration of the service that you see on your end, but NOT to the total that clients see!
Edit a service
Sometimes you need to update a service. For example, maybe you caught a typo, or maybe you're raising your rates. Whatever the reason, if you would like to edit an existing service, walk through these steps:
Using the Schedulicity full site (not the iPhone app), click the three lines in the upper left and navigate to Settings
Select the "Services" tile
Select the service you’d like to edit
Select the “edit” button in the upper right-hand corner
Adjust any details of the service that needs to be changed
Save your changes!
👉 Just a heads up, any changes to price and duration will take effect on all appointments booked going forth but will not be applied to appointments already on your calendar. If you update your price for a service on your computer, be sure to refresh your app to ensure that the new price is reflected!
Also, if you are operating in an environment where the providers/instructors offer the same service but with different durations, prices, and clean-up times, you can edit that information per provider. Check out the details here.
Reorder services
Reordering services will determine the order that the services are shown on your business listing, as well as how those are listed within the business side of your account.
Open Settings and select the "Services" tile
Click and hold on the service that you'd like to move, and then move it to where you'd like it to be in the service list
Once you drop it, the order will be automatically saved!
Add an image to your service
Go to Settings and click on the "Services" tile
Select the service you wish to edit from the list
Click on the "Change Image" button
To choose your image, click on the "Change Image" button and select a file from the window that pops up
To save the file to your class, click on the "Change Image" button again!
📷 If you ever decide you'd like to change that image, click on the small 'x' button by the class or service thumbnail to clear the image. From there, you can start from the top again!
How do I set up a mobile service?
If you offer mobile services, where you typically travel to your clients to perform services, then you can mark those services as "outcall" services. This will prompt the system to require clients to enter their physical address for those services, as well as build travel time into the service on your calendar!
To mark a service as a mobile service, give these steps a try:
Go to Settings and select the Services tile
Click on the service you’d like to set as a mobile service
Click “edit”
Check the box next to “outcall service,” and a checkmark will show
Hit the “save” button!
Let's also make sure that you have enough time to get where you're going! If you’d like to edit the amount of travel time that is attached to a mobile service, just follow these steps:
Go to Settings and select the "Policies" and then the "Appointment Policies" tile
Under the "Travel Time" header, enter the length of time (in either hours or minutes
Hit the “Save” button!
Mobile services will display to clients on your service menu with a little house icon next to the service name. On your calendar, they will have a car icon. These are additional visual indicators to let you and your clients know what to expect with that service 👌
What is processing time?
Wondering if you should add processing time to your service? Processing time is a super useful tool, depending on how you like to manage your schedule! Services with processing time have a start time in which you will be working with one of your clients, a processing time in which you could schedule other clients and a finish time in which you will return to the original client in order to finish the service.
Here's an example:
For a Cut and Color service, I would enter ‘cut and color’ as the service name. Click on the 'add processing time' link, and then I would specify 30 minutes for the start duration because that is how long it takes me to add an all over color. I would specify 30 minutes for the processing time because that is how long it takes the color to set. Then I would specify 60 minutes for the Haircut and Style. This then means that in the middle of the processing time, another client could book so long as they were scheduling a service that is 30 minutes or less.
You can add processing time when creating a service, or feel free to add, edit or delete processing time on an existing service by editing it! Head to the service to edit it using the steps above, and then opt to "add processing time" or "remove processing time"—or simply adjust the duration if necessary.
