This feature was designed for you to help reduce no-shows and essentially will request the client to enter in his/her card at the time of booking to "reserve" or "secure" the appointment. It will not charge the card automatically at the time of booking; rather it just requests the card information. Then, in the event of a no-show, you can charge the card on file for that client.

The Hold with Credit Card feature is an awesome aspect of our Payment Add-on, which is $5/month for solo accounts and $10/month for group accounts. Plus, you get to choose between two awesome payment processors— Square or Stripe. 

If you opt to charge a card that's been entered by a client, both companies would take a 2.9% + 0.30 fee out for each transaction. It doesn't matter the type of card either, whether it be AMEX, Discover, VISA or MC. Neither company has any setup fees, monthly fees, minimum charges, validation fees or storage fees. They are also both kind enough to refund your processing fee if you decide to refund your client and they don't charge in the event of a declined card.

Here's how to enable our Payment Add-on:

  1. Click on the three blue lines and select "My Plan" from the menu
  2. Find the Add-ons section and hit the blue "manage" button to the right
  3. Click on the Payment add-on (it will turn red once you've selected it)
  4. Hit the orange save button to the right

Now, here's how to get connected with Square or Stripe:

  1. Click on the three blue lines and select "Payments" from the menu
  2. Select the Connect button beneath your preferred processor
  3. This will pop you to their site when you can fill out the application (with Stripe) or accept all permissions (with Square)
  4. Once you've finished that up, you'll be taken right back to your Schedulicity account. 

Next, we will want to create your no show policy so you can advertise what you would/could charge in the event of a no show.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Then select the Policies tile.
  3. Select the “Payment Policies” tile and enter your no show policy. This is where you'll let your clients know what percent or amount you will charge if they do not show up for their appointment. There is a pre-populated message there, but be sure to customize it to whatever you like!

That's the initial setup! You are now ready to add the Hold with a Credit Card feature to those services/classes/workshops that you would like! Check out these final steps below:

For Services:

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Choose Services
  3. Click into the service you'd like to add this protection to
  4. Within the service details, you'll see the option "Hold with a credit card when booked online.” Check that box.
  5. Save your changes!

For Classes:

  1. Navigate to Classes
  2. Select the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen above the mini-calendar
  3. Select the class for which you'd like to require a credit card by selecting the “add/edit” button on the far right of the class
  4. Select the "edit" button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen
  5. Within the class details, you'll see the option "Hold with a credit card when booked online.” Check that box.
  6. Save your changes!

For Workshops:

  1. Navigate to Workshops
  2. Select the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen above the mini-calendar
  3. Select the class for which you'd like to require a credit card by selecting the “add/edit” button on the far right of the class
  4. Select the "edit" button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen
  5. Within the class details, you'll see the option "Hold with a credit card when booked online.” Check that box.
  6. Save your changes!

Your clients will now need to enter their credit card information when booking that service online. It won't charge them at the time of booking but you'll be able to charge that card if they don't show up if you wish! Just repeat this last set of steps for all other services for which you'd like this protection.
