Now that I have my mobile card reader, what should I do next?

How to pair/connect your mobile card reader to your Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, Android phone, or Android tablet and walk through checkout

So you've gotten your present – er, excuse us, card reader in the mail. Hooray! 🎊What's next? Why, getting yourself all set up with your brand new card reader, of course! All you'll want to do is follow these steps so you can get started with Schedulicity's built-in payment processor!

Pairing card reader to Apple devices

Before you get started, make sure you have the latest iOS app downloaded. Then:

  1. Plug in the reader with it's included cord and turn it on

  2. Make sure Bluetooth and Location Services are enabled on your mobile device

  3. Once your Schedulicity app is all downloaded, open up the app and log in

  4. Tap on the "Settings" button in the lower right

  5. Select "Manage Card Reader"

  6. Tap "Pair Device" to continue

  7. On the next page, enter the last five digits of your serial number. You can find the serial number on the bottom of your device, or you can also find it on the bottom flap of the box your device arrived in. (You'll want to make sure to write this number down or take a picture of it for when you need to re-pair in the future!)Β 

8. Wait up to 45 seconds to pair up – it'll only take this long the first time πŸ˜‰Β 

9. Wait until you see "Device is now active" and you'll be ready to go!

Pairing card reader to Android devices

If you're rocking an Android, make sure to download our Android app first! Then, you'll follow these steps:Β 

  1. Plug in the reader with it's included cord and turn it on

  2. Make sure Bluetooth and Location Services are enabled on your mobile device

  3. Once the app is all downloaded, open up the app and log in (you'll need to pair in app rather than your phone settings)

  4. Navigate to the appointment you wish to check out and click on the "Checkout" button

  5. Once you make sure that everything is ready to charge, click on the "continue" button

  6. On the next page, select "Credit Card" from the payment options

  7. Select "Pair Your Device" from the options shown on the next page (make sure the device is on)

  8. Β Once "Pair Your Device" is selected, you'll need to enter their device number (last 5 digits of the serial number) and select the "pair" option

9. Wait up to 45 seconds to pair up – it'll only take this long the first time πŸ˜‰Β 

10. Wait until you see "Device is now active" and you'll be ready to go!

Mobile Card Reader Checkout

  1. Go to an appointment, class or workshop in your calendar

  2. Tap "checkout" from the appointment

  3. Add an item if needed and tap "next"

  4. Choose "credit card" as tender type

  5. Insert or swipe your client's card when ready

  6. Wait for the authorization

  7. Add a gratuity and signature, if needed!
